Turmeric Tonic

Jamu Kitchen

Thursday 28th July
7pm-8.30pm

Sip your way to wellness. Learn to make Turmeric Tonic with Jamu Kitchen, a London-based drinks company making densely-packed herb and spice potions. Their version of the latest it-drink is made according to the Indonesian system of herbal medicine known as ‘Jamu’. The main ingredient, turmeric root, is a powerful anti-inflammatory with serious antibacterial and antiseptic properties. When prepared as a tonic, it makes a refreshing, delicious beverage – not to mention a great midday pick-me-up or evening tea. Founder Tanita will guide you through the Indonesian way of making the tonic in the comfort of a luxurious Town Hall Hotel apartment. Expect ancient tips, tricks, recipe ideas and your own handmade brew to take home with you.

About your host

Founder Tanita became enchanted with the volcanic islands of Indonesia a few years ago, where she discovered Turmeric Tamarind Tonic, an ancient wellness tonic made from roots, herbs and spices. Tanita drank this ancient solution every day, and made it her mission to learn the secrets behind it. After returning to London, she began making the tonic in her kitchen apothecary for friends, before starting her first stall at Druid Street Market.
