Voices At The Table is a series of curated evenings of readings and performances around food, bringing together an eclectic mix of voices across the literary, performance and food worlds. "¨


SPEAKERS

Elizabeth Day – author, journalist and podcaster. Elizabeth has written five books, including ‘The Party’ and the recently-published ‘How To Fail’, now a chart-topping podcast. She writes for New York Magazine, the Guardian, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and is a regular contributor on Sky News and BBC Radio 4.

Gill Meller – chef and author. Gill has been part of the renowned River Cottage team for over a decade. His debut cookbook ‘Gather’ won a Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Award in 2017, and he has contributed recipes to publications such as The Guardian, Delicious magazine, The Telegraph and Waitrose Food.

Ravinder Bhogal – chef, food writer and TV presenter. Ravinder’s debut cookbook ‘Cook in Boots’ was awarded a Gourmand World Cookbook Award. She has hosted various TV series, including ‘Ravinder’s Kitchen’ and ‘The Great British Curry Trail’. Ravinder’s first restaurant, Jikoni, opened in 2016 in Marylebone.

Yemisi Aribisala – essayist and writer. Yemisi is a Nigerian writer, currently based in London. Her debut book ‘Longthroat Memoirs: Soups, Sex and Nigerian Taste Buds’ won the John Avery Prize at the André Simon Awards in 2016. Yemisi is the founding editor for Nigerian literary publication Farafina, and regularly contributes to publications such as The New Yorker and The Chimurenga Chronic.

Jessica Andrews – writer and poet. Jessica’s debut novel, ‘Saltwater’, will be published this May and she has already been lauded as "a stunning new voice in British literary fiction". She has written for the Independent, Somesuch Stories, AnOther and Papaya Press. Jessica teaches Literature and Creative Writing and co-runs literary magazine The Grapevine, which promotes under-represented writers.

"¨Zoí« Alyssa Cooper & Catherine Kirk – playwright / actor. Award-winning playwright, Zoí«, has collaborated with Catherine for many years, including for Edinburgh Fringe, Henley Fringe and NYC Strawberry One-Act Festival. Catherine trained at Rada, followed by a career in stage, television and film. Zoí« trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and is currently writing a comedy for TV. "¨

Riaz Phillips – writer, photographer and publisher. A born-and-bred Londoner, Riaz founded the publishing company Tezeta Press, with a focus on preserving and forwarding under-represented ideas, history and culture. The first book, ‘Belly Full: Caribbean Food in the UK’, won a YBF award in 2017.

Caz Hildebrand – award-winning designer and food writer. Caz has designed cookbooks for some of the most famous names in food, including Nigella Lawson, Yotam Ottolenghi, and Sam and Sam Clark of Moro. She has also created a series of illustrated food books, including ‘Herbarium’ and ‘An Anarchy of Chillies’."¨

"¨Rosie Birkett – food writer, stylist and broadcaster. Rosie has written three books, with her fourth, ‘The Joyful Home Cook’ released next month. She is a columnist and contributing editor at BBC Good Food Magazine, and a regular on weekend morning food television, cooking and presenting on Saturday Kitchen and Sunday Brunch.

Rebecca Tamás – poet, editor and academic. Rebecca has published three poetry pamphlets, ‘The Ophelia Letters’, ‘Savage’ and ‘Tiger’. ‘WITCH’ is her first full-length collection. She is a lecturer at York St John University and the editor of anthology ‘Spells: Occult Poetry for the 21st Century’.

Stephen Hoo – actor and playwright. Stephen is a film and theatre actor, having appeared at the Arcola, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Royal Court Theatre and in Yellow Earth productions.


Tickets include the performances, cocktails from Hepple Gin and Artisan Drinks Co, and snacks from Corner Room chef Simon Shand.
