Ceramics

Turning Earth

Sunday 31st July
2pm-5pm

Get hands on with clay and create your own range of ceramics. Sarah Hall and Lisa Ommanney from Turning Earth Studio in Hackney will teach various ceramic hand-building and decorative techniques, showing you how to make your own mezze set in stoneware clay. Play with shapes, size and decorative motifs, creating beautiful and useful pots and platters to enjoy at your table. Your work will then be fired, glazed, and returned to you after the workshop.

About your hosts

Sarah Hall makes ceramic objects that combine practicality for everyday use and the beauty of sculptural forms. She trained at Camberwell College of Arts and works as a member mentor and teacher at Turning Earth ceramics studio.

Lisa Ommanney is a Hackney-based ceramicist making functional hand built pieces. She trained at London Guildhall and works as a mentor at Turning Earth. Lisa has a particular interest in the contrast of naked, unglazed clays against mixed and layered glaze colours, with a broad style that ranges from intricate, graphic slab work to gentle curves in pinched forms.
