Voices At The Table is a series of curated evenings of readings and performances around food, bringing together an eclectic mix of voices across the literary, performance and food worlds.

For our 9th event of the series we’re heading to Soho for a Sunday lunch at Asma Khan’s wonderful restaurant Darjeeling Express – soon to be featured on Netflix’s Chef's Table. Asma will be the first British chef to be featured on the programme.

Along with an incredible line up of talented writers, chefs and performers, the afternoon will include Cobra beers, Nonsuch shrubs and delicious dishes from Asma’s debut cookbook Asma’s Indian Kitchen. Lunch will be served family style and will feature Calcutta street food favourite Papri Chaat, Tangri Kabab, Bengali fish curry Macher Malaikari, and smoky aubergine Baingan Bharta (among others!).

SPEAKERS

Asma Khan – chef/owner of Darjeeling Express, Asma’s first cookbook Asma’s Indian Kitchen is due out 4th October 2018 and she will be the first British chef to appear on Netflix’s Chef’s Table in 2019.

Kate Young – food writer, cook and author, Kate’s first cookbook The Little Library Cookbook was published in 2017, and her second book is due out next year. Inspired by literature, Kate also writes recipes for the Guardian.

Jimi Famurewa – writer, podcaster and restaurant critic, Jimi is the newly appointed restaurant reviewer for ES Magazine. Jimi also hosts a music discussion podcast and his writing features in the first issue of The Good Journal.

Sybil Kapoor – award-winning food and travel writer and author of nine books, Sybil’s latest book Sight Smell Touch Taste Sound: A New Way to Cook, published this month, explores multi-sensory cooking.

Neil Rankin – chef/owner of Temper restaurants, Neil’s debut book Low and Slow: How to Cook Meat was published in 2016. Neil has been at the forefront of the barbecue and live fire cooking scene in London.

Sheena Bhattessa – actress and founder of luxury travel publication Citizen Femme, Sheena has featured in a number of Hindi films, as well as on ITV’s The Fixer, and British TV favourites Eastenders and Midsomer Murders.

Tickets include the performances, a family-style lunch, and Cobra beers and Nonsuch shrubs throughout the event. Vegetarians will be catered for. Please note that tickets are non-refundable but you may transfer your ticket if desired.

RETURNS

Tickets to our events and talks are non-refundable. However, you are welcome to transfer tickets to friends and family if you are unable to attend an event. Simply notify us on info@atthetable.co.uk. At this time, we also do not offer refunds or exchanges for products purchased via our website. If the product gets damaged in the post, please contact us at info@atthetable.co.uk with images of the product and packaging.

At The Table is committed to protecting your privacy. What information do we collect?

You give us your information when you book an event, make a purchase from our shop or sign up to our newsletter.  We use Stripe to process card transactions and do not store credit card details.

We keep a record of the emails we send you, and we may track whether you receive or open them so we can make sure we are sending you the most relevant information. We may then track any subsequent actions online.

Like most websites, we receive and store certain details whenever you use the At The Table website. We use “cookies” to help us make our site – and the way you might use it – better. There is more information on this below.

What we use your personal information for

When you provide us with personal information to book an event, complete a transaction, verify your credit card or place an order, we hold that information under legitimate interest and you have the right to be informed that we hold it, the right to access that data, to correct it if it is erroneous, to be forgotten, to restrict processing of that data, and to object to our processing of your data. We aim to be clear when we collect your data and not to do anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect. If you make a purchase or book an event we usually collect your name and contact details and your bank or credit card information (if making a transaction via Stripe).

Payment

We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe adheres to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
